Exploring Our Universe Through Sight & Sound (or Touch!)
Details
Information of cosmic objects doesn't have to be just a two-dimensional snap shot. We can transform these data to be able to listen, feel, or (virtually) move through the cosmos through virtual reality and even holograms. Such data taken from telescopes in space – often in light invisible to the human eye – can be translated into many different forms to help provide access to some of space’s most interesting and mysterious objects. Dr. Kimberly Arcand, from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, will take you to the debris from an exploded star through sound, walk you through the core of our Milky Way virtually, discuss feeling vibrations of a stellar nursery, and help you experience our universe anew.
