Talk Abstract: The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is one of thirteen principal federal statistical agencies and is responsible for collecting data and producing several well-known economic indicators. Examples include the consumer price index and the monthly jobs report. BLS conducts surveys and censuses in areas related to productivity, prices, worker conditions, pay and benefits, and employment. In this talk, I will describe some applications in text analysis I’ve been involved with during my time at the BLS.
