Building a career as a Jill of all trades
Details
Abstract: After finishing my biostats PhD 8 years ago, I started working as a machine learning engineer in the tech industry, and am now working my 4th startup job. While startups and academia do have a lot in common, startups force you to generalize (develop breadth) while other career tracks reward specialization (depth). I'll share a bit about how I've thought about building a fulfilling career as a generalist and how common themes between different application areas really make that possible!
