R-Ladies Edinburgh are back with our first in-person event of 2023!

In this hands-on workshop we are going to play with some spatial data to learn about basic spatial operations and map making with R. To do this, we will leverage three great R packages, {sf}, {ggplot2} and {leaflet}. By the end of the workshop, you will be able to load, manipulate and visualise spatial data with beautiful maps. This will be an introductory workshop and no previous knowledge of spatial analysis or mapping is required.

**Please bring a laptop so you can fully participate in the workshop.**

After the workshop, we will have ample time for networking and chat over some snacks and drinks (courtesy of the Software Sustainability Institute).

Alessia is a Lecturer in Sustainability and Urban Data Science at the Edinburgh Future Institute and the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture of the University of Edinburgh. Prior to this, she was a postdoctoral research associate at the Geographic Data Science Lab of the University of Liverpool.
Alessia's research sits at the intersection of Urban Planning, Geography and Computer Science and she interested in developing new spatially informed computational methods to better understand the mutual relationship between human behaviours and their urban contexts. Her current substantive focus concerns how we can equitability manage Net Zero transitions within cities.
