From messy data to beautiful plot: Guided TidyTuesday

Know the basics of data wrangling but want some hands-on practice? Want to learn ggplot tips and tricks to make your plots eye-catching? Seen cool visualizations on Twitter but find it hard to go from messy dataset to beautiful visualization?

In this monthly meetup, we’ll go through a Tidy Tuesday dataset together step-by-step, walking you through the entire process from coming up with an interesting question to asnwer, getting the data in the right format and finally, creating a cool visualization!

You may have heard of Tidy Tuesday -- a weekly initiative by R for Data Science which provides a new dataset every week for the community to practice wrangling and visualizing. It has a huge Twitter community and is one of the best ways to practice and develop tidyverse skills, whether you’re still reviewing the basics or have quite the repertoire. This series has something for everyone and is especially designed to be beginner friendly!

It's important to us to ensure that Guided Tidy Tuesday is a safe space for gender minorities and especially those who are just starting out with R. Studies have shown that letting gender minorities speak first promotes a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for underrepresented groups. All are welcome at this meetup but we specifically ask cisgender men to take a passive role in this meetup and hold comments / questions until after others have had the chance to ask.
