R tutorial series: Getting around GitHub

Details
Getting around GitHub can often be complicated to new users. Here we'll move into our R-Ladies Gainesville Tutorial Series with an introductory GitHub tutorial!
Michelle Slawinski (https://github.com/slawinsm) is going to guide us through how to use GitHub for version control and collaboration.
To participate, please complete the following before the event:
(1) create a GitHub account: https://github.com/
(2) download and install Git: https://github.com/git-guides/install-git, more details here
(3) download and install GitHub Desktop: https://desktop.github.com/, more details here
Note: We will be available to help you at 11:45AM - EST. If you run into any issues with the steps above, just join the Zoom call early :)
R-Ladies Gainesville welcomes members of all R proficiency levels, whether you're a new or aspiring R user, or an experienced R programmer interested in mentoring, networking & expert upskilling.
Please RSVP to access the Zoom link before the event.
Please note:
In line with R-Ladies’ Mission Statement to encourage participation in the R community by underrepresented genders/identities (https://rladies.org/about-us/), our events are designed for those individuals (including, but not limited to cis/trans women, trans men, non-binary, genderqueer, agender).
