This month we have a great mix of topics from excellent speakers and at a convenient venue!
Automating large-scale bioinformatics analysis over cloud with the Deploit Platform- Dr Maria Chatzou, CEO of Lifebit (https://twitter.com/mariachatzou)
Lifebit use Nextflow, a polyglot Domain Specific language that allows us to incorporate bioinformatics tools developed in any programming language in a unified pipeline. We use bioinformatics R packages for the workflows available on the Deploit platform which are available on our github https://github.com/lifebit-ai.
Using Machine Learning to understand the impact of regulation on mortgage sales- Zanna Iscenko, Senior Data Scientist / Research Economist at the FCA
Start using data.table- Megan Stodel, data scientist at the Ministry of Justice, having shifted career from social research (www.meganstodel.com)
When such a large part of data science is data wrangling, it makes a huge difference using the best tools. Megan advocates for the package data.table, which allows users to explore and manipulate datasets in R with great efficiency. As well as extolling its virtues, she'll give an overview of the basic syntax, and hopes to convince you to give it a try!.
