R-Ladies Melbourne is now announcing its June event! In this months event we will be hosting two fantastic speakers.
The main presentation of the evening will be given by Stephanie Kovalchik.
Title: Sports Analytics with R
Abstract: What to know what it is like to be a sports statistician? In this talk I will provide a crash course of some common tools in R for conducting data science for sports. Typical activities of sports analysis include web scraping, data wrangling, machine learning, data visualisation, and blogging. I will show tools in R that can be used to tackle each of these steps and provide examples of their application with real-world sports examples.
We will also hear from Lyndal Henden, who will tell us about the importance of engaging with young girls about continuing STEM courses though high school and beyond.
