Join us on Thursday for an exclusive presentation and Q&A session with Dr. Nyssa Silbiger on her latest project combining Data Science and Art to rescue coral reefs: Future Pacific. Dr. Silbiger will present the project implementation along with insights on how to perform a scientific study in times of COVID. Furthermore, Dr Silbiger will recount how they translated the study results into an art installation in collaboration with artist Lauren Shapiro.
About the speaker:
Dr. Nyssa Silbiger is currently an Assistant Professor in the Biology Department at California State University, Northridge. She teaches marine ecology, computer modeling and R.
Dr. Nyssa Silbiger uses a diverse set of laboratory, field, and quantitative techniques in her research to understand the impact of climate stressors on organisms, communities, and ecosystem processes in the context of natural variability. To date, she has worked mostly in coastal ecosystems including coral reefs and temperate rocky shores.
