This event will explore the topics around missing data and how to deal with them in your analysis. A short introduction will be given, providing an overview of the different types of missing data, ways to account for them, and which of these ways are preferred (and why). We will demonstrate the multiple imputation approach in R and allow time for the participants to practice on real data.

A big big thanks to R-Ladies RTP members, Marissa Ashner and Dr. Sarah Lotspeich, for volunteering their time to organize and lead this event!

Agenda:
6:30 pm - 6:45pm - Introductions
6:45 pm - 7:15 pm - Overview of Missing Data
7:15 pm - 8:15 pm - Examples and practice in R
8:15 pm - 8:30 pm - Wrap up

All events are intended for women as leaders, mentors, members, and attendees. We are emphatically queer and trans friendly. Men are welcomed to attend as guests and must be accompanied by the R-Lady who invited them (i.e., attend through the "guest" function on their host's RSVP, not as a separate RSVP). This group was created so those who identify as women have a comfortable place to learn. If you would like to attend and feel excluded, please contact the event organizer.

Who is this for?
This meetup is for beginners who have little to no experience programming in R. We will use live coding demonstrations and participates will actively engage with the instructor throughout the workshop.

Before you join, please install the most recent version of R as well as RStudio on your computer before attending this meetup event. Here are links to free downloads for R (https://cran.r-project.org/) and RStudio (https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/#download). Downloading and installing both of these programs before this meetup will help us keep to our schedule and make sure you learn the most you can while at the meetup event.

If you have trouble installing the software, please contact Sheila (via Meetup message or at sheila@rladies.org) at least 48 hours before the event so we can find a time to meet and work through software installation issues.

What should I bring?
Please login to Zoom using a laptop or computer with the capabilities to run R and RStudio. See information above about how to install R and RStudio.

Where will it take place?
Please join us online via Zoom. A link to join will be provided when you RSVP.
