An Introduction to targets for R

We are so excited to announce our next workshop: An Introduction to targets for R, with Tracey Mangin!

Interested in clean, reproducible workflows in R? Ever get lost in your own workflow? Have you suffered because you changed part of your workflow or one of your inputs but forgot to incorporate it when producing your results somewhere else? Great news, targets can help. In this session we will introduce the R package targets, which is a pipeline tool that coordinates a workflow and only runs "targets" or steps in your workflow that require updating due to downstream changes, saving costly runtime and ensuring that everything is updated when changes occur. This results in more trustworthy outputs and reproducible computation. The session will run as follows:

• Introduction presentation (20-30 mins)
• Short demo (15-20 mins)
• Application (completed individually, in break out rooms, or all together, depending on size of group) (20-30 mins)

We will be using the following packages: tidyverse, here, and, of course, targets. You can install packages using the following code: install.packages("insert_package_name").

Important Meetup information:
