Good Enough Practices for Scientific Reproducibility

Computational tools are making it easier than ever to collect, analyze, and share data and results in transparent and reproducible ways. But… how do we achieve this desired reproducibility?

Join us at our next Meetup on April 3 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, in person at NCEAS, where Colleen Smith and Camila Vargas Poulsen will share Good (Enough) Practices for Achieving Scientific Reproducibility. Through this presentation, the speakers will discuss tools and systems to help you organize and document your work for better reproducibility. We will discuss why aiming for reproducibility is important yet challenging and how these systems can help you make your work more robust and facilitate collaboration (including with yourself).

About the speakers
Colleen Smith is a biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, where she writes recovery plans for endangered species. Before that, she spent 9 years in academia, where she analyzed many different types of datasets to investigate how bee biodiversity is responding to global change. In her spare time she likes to run, hike and spend as much time outdoors with her dog Otto as she can.

Camila Vargas Poulsen is the Data Training Coordinator at the NCEAS Learning Hub, where she manages, maintains, and develops the NCEAS data science training portfolio. She also leads data science courses like coreR and a range of modular training for scientists who want to integrate data science tools into their analytical workflow. Outside work, you can find Camila in, next to, or on the ocean and cooking family-style dinners with friends.
