Members, YOUR part is this ...

• Maintain your bike. Worse than having mechanical issue on a ride is realizing you could have prevented it. Have your bike inspected and tuned-up regularly by a bike mechanic. (Bike Gallery has six stores in the Portland Metro area and offers members 10% savings on parts!)

• Assume responsibility for your own safety: Wear a helmet (NHTSA fit instructions (https://www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.dot.gov/files/8019_fitting-a-helmet.pdf)). Carry a phone, flat repair kit, water and snacks - every ride. Obey the laws governing bicyclists (Oregon Bicyclist Manual (https://www.oregon.gov/odot/programs/tdd%20documents/oregon-bicyclist-manual.pdf)). Leave your earbuds at home.

• RSVP to calendar events you plan to attend. Look for leader updates/instructions in the "Comments" section of any bike ride event that you plan to attend.

• Un-RSVP when your plans change. Super important - please respect your leader's time by un-RSVP'ing. Download the Meetup app (https://www.meetup.com/apps/) to make it easy.

More About Us:

We invite women of various bicycling abilities to come into a community of girlfriends where we strive to:

• Create a women-friendly, supportive cycling community for beginners and experienced riders to practice their skills and enjoy biking with girlfriends. We encourage you to ride just for fun or to further develop and strengthen your skills. And we love helping you reach your stretch goals!

• Help experienced and beginner cyclists improve their skills to promote good bike handling, safe riding and self-sufficiency through demonstrations, on-ride lessons and training clinics.

• Give more experienced cyclists a place to give back by sharing what they have learned, leading bike rides or simply coming alongside junior bicyclists to encourage and support them.

ONLINE Happy Hour: Throwback Thursday

Online event

Enough with the bad news and social isolation! Let's get together and share some fun over a glass of your favorite something. This week our theme is inspired by Throwback Thursday where we will share old photos and memories. Let's put a bike spin on it, sharing YOUR old bike photos and walk down memory lane with Ride Like A Girl. The photo shared here is circa 1975, Carolyn Jen standing with her banana-seat bike (not shown) and best friend. Here's how it will work: EVERYONE - Send Carolyn a personal old(er) BIKE RELATED photo of yourself (if there is a story that goes with it, you can tell us about it when we 'gather'). Carolyn will create from your photos a group slide show so we can visually share our collective early bike days. Carolyn will wrap-up by sharing some of RLAG's earliest photos. Let's have some fun with sharing old images, stories and memories of our bygone bike days and RLAG roots! Don't forget to send Carolyn your photo!!! Email it to ridelikeapdxgirl at gmail dot com To join this video conversation, just click this link at the time of our Happy Hour and you'll be connected (Join us 5-10 minutes before 5:00 start, if you are able). https://us04web.zoom.us/j/797078474?pwd=VkpQVlJjaXgrV25HVjlTVzVOKzJOZz09 -------------- Online Happy Hours are a weekly gathering for RLAG Meetup members. The schedule will run through April, alternating each week between Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesdays will be devoted to sharing the challenges and silver linings that we are all experiencing during this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Thursdays will have a more creative vibe and various themes.
