What is your hiking experience? (e.g. how long have you been hiking, how often do you get out , where are some of your favorite places, etc.)

I have been hiking in earnest for about a year and a half. I try to get in the Blue Hills as much as possible. I try for at least twice a week, but prefer 4 or 5 hikes. I like Western MD and VA because the area is very beautiful. I am also partial to Western MA because I was born there. After getting a taste of the NH48, the Whites are becoming a weekend destination.

What type of hikes do you like best? (e.g. day hikes, overnight backpacks, hikes that may involve off-trail "bushwhacking", etc.)

I prefer day hikes because I like to relax after a long trip. Even with Girl Scouts, I have not been a camping girl.

What are your hiking goals? (e.g. just like hiking, enjoy being outdoors, looking to finish one of the "lists", etc.)

Right now I want to work on my stamina and endurance. I enjoy being outside and hiking just allows me to center myself. Outside of personal growth, I am in the early planning phases of section hiking the AT. I figure it should takes me 20+/- years to finish. I plan on completing the NH48 by 48. I am sure that I will have other goals in the future.

What is the most strenuous/difficult hike that you have done? What made it so tough?

Even after completing 2 of the NH48, Mt. Monadnock was the hardest. It is like a mixture of all hiking conditions in a short period of time. Plus, I am slow. Mt. Garfield would come in next because it was the first major hike after being out of commission for a month.

Do you have any outdoor leadership experience? Would you be interested in organizing and leading your own events with the Random Hikers??

Not at this time.

I am a HS teacher in Metro Boston. Hiking is one way for me to relax and unwind.
