What is your hiking experience? (e.g. how long have you been hiking, how often do you get out , where are some of your favorite places, etc.)

I've logged 821.6 miles of backpacking. Most of that was on the 496 mile Colorado Trail that I thru-hiked July of 2010. I also climbed two 14ers along the way (Mt. Elbert and Mt. Yale). My favorite places that I've hiked are Yosemite NP, Sequoia NP, Collegiate Peaks Wilderness (CO), San Juan Mountains (CO) Bryce Canyon NP, Zion NP, Grand Canyon NP, Grayson Highlands (VA), and Pisgah National Forest (NC).

What type of hikes do you like best? (e.g. day hikes, overnight backpacks, hikes that may involve off-trail "bushwhacking", etc.)

Day hikes and overnight backpacking... off-trail stuff only when there is no actual "bushwhacking"

What are your hiking goals? (e.g. just like hiking, enjoy being outdoors, looking to finish one of the "lists", etc.)

I enjoy being outdoors and getting exercise. Sometimes I like to set a goal for myself and hike it, but I enjoy hiking even when I don't hike 15-20 miles in a day.

What is the most strenuous/difficult hike that you have done? What made it so tough?

While hiking the Colorado Trail, some friends I met talked me into hiking Mt. Elbert which is the highest peak of the Rockie Mountains. At 14440 feet it was a 4.5 miles hike, but required 4700 ft of vert to climb. Since I was hiking the CT at the time, I had to continue hiking another 7.8 miles after the to reach my campsite. I ended the day hiking 16.8 miles with around 5000 feet of vert.

Do you have any outdoor leadership experience? Would you be interested in organizing and leading your own events with the Random Hikers??

I would be interested in participating in some events, however, I'm not that familiar with the New England trails and area yet.

Introduction
