Jesus: Yesterday, Today and Forever — Lesson 1: God, the Son
Who is Jesus—and how does knowing Him change our lives?
Join Roanoke Bible Study Meetup for the first of six online Bible studies exploring "Jesus: Yesterday, Today and Forever." We’ll trace what Scripture reveals about His eternal identity, His activity in Old Testament history, His coming into the world, the mission He accomplished for us, and the future He promises.
Our first study: God, the Son
Jesus is widely admired as a teacher, a prophet, and an example of love. But the Bible makes a much greater claim: He is divine—God, the Son.
In this opening lesson, Brent Paschall will guide us through four lines of biblical evidence:
- His names and titles: Why does Scripture call Jesus “God,” “the First and the Last,” and “the Son of God”?
- His attributes and actions: What do His eternal existence, work in creation, and authority to forgive sins reveal?
- The honors He receives: Why does Jesus receive worship and prayer?
- His place in our heart: What does it mean to give Him our faith, love, loyalty, and devotion?
We’ll open the Bible together and consider not only who Jesus is, but how we should respond to Him.
Meet online through Zoom. Bring your Bible, your questions, and a willingness to examine the Scriptures. Whether you’re beginning to explore Christianity or have studied the Bible for years, you’re welcome.
