Details

This presentation is a combination of three interesting things:

BusPirate (BP) is a little open source device that connects a USB host device (PC, MAC, or cellphone / tablet via USB OTG) to electronic stuff. It can speak with several different busses (I2C, SPI, UART, etc...) and devices (LCDs, servos, AVRs, FPGAs, CPLDs, etc...) and can inject signals, or measure voltages. With a 3D printed case and label, custom cable, and precision potentiometer, it's a little test bench in your pocket for less than $30.

DroidScript (DS) is a free app for Android that lets you write apps in JavaScript / HTML5 on your phone or tablet. You can write code on the device (a physical keyboard helps) or via PC browser with a nice IDE. You can access almost anything in the phone, respond to events, interact with the user, etc... Run or share your apps inside DS for free or compile to stand-alone apps for $10.

DroidScriptBusPirate is a program in DS for talking to the BP. It helps humans with the cryptic commands used by the BP, and adds wizards and display modes to provide a GUI of sorts and augment the abilities of the BP.

Robotics Club usually runs show and tell type of meeting on Tuesday 6pm. If you are working on great robotics project or know someone who is working on fun robotics project. Please let Hansol know so that we can share it with the community.
