What we’re about

Have you ever felt more alive abroad than you do at home?

Was there a chapter of your life overseas that shaped you so deeply, it's hard to explain to anyone who hasn’t lived it?

Do your best conversations cross cultures, borders, and languages?

And have you noticed that the spaces where those conversations used to happen—hostels, Couchsurfing.com, open tables—are getting harder to find?

ROC Expat Connection is a gathering space—for expats, repats, immigrants, travelers, and globally curious locals—who miss the real connections that used to come more easily: the ones built on shared stories, cultural collisions, and late-night conversations with people from everywhere.

What We Do:

Casual meetups in cafés, parks, or around the dinner table
Cultural storytelling nights
Language exchange hangouts
Fireside chats on identity, belonging, alienation, and in-between-ness

We started this group because we know what it’s like to not quite fit the mold—and how everything shifts when you're finally among people who get it. People who have lived more than one kind of life and don’t need it explained. I'ved lived in Japan, Ireland and Vietnam for nearly 8 combined years, and Siobhan grew up in Hong Kong before moving to Ireland (where her Mother is from (Cork) and she holds an Irish passport) and then to the Rochester, NY, over 13 years ago.

If that sounds like you, we hope to connect soon!
