About us
Welcome to Rock Climbing & Rappelling at Raven's Roost! I ran this group for several years but moved away for a while. I am now back and getting it going again. We may be able to sneak in a couple of outings this fall before it gets too cold but will be going in earnest come spring.
A primary focus of the group is introducing climbing and rappelling to those with no experience at all or with minimal experience. So don't hesitate to come out even if you are a complete newbie.
All necessary equipment is provided. It is not uncommon to visit a brewery in the area afterward!

Rock Climbing 101
Raven's Roost Overlook - Blue Ridge Parkway, Mile Post 10.7 Blue Ridge Parkway, Lyndhurst, va, USThis outing will be rock climbing using the top roping technique of a fixed anchor at the top of the climb.
No experience required and all equipment is provided. A limited amount of climbing shoes will be available but they may not fit depending on size. Tennis or hiking shoes will work as a plan B.
Meet at the Raven's Roost overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. From I-64, take exit 99 and go South on the Parkway. Raven's Roost is between mile markers 10 and 11.
Wear comfortable & flexible clothing. Bring water, lunch/snacks, and bug spray.
It is not uncommon to visit a local brewery after the event for those interested.
