Virtual Outing – Red Rocks, Nevada – Intro and Overview

During this event Erik Filsinger will be giving an overview of the climbing opportunities at Red Rocks, Nevada, one of the world’s premier climbing destinations.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area outside of Las Vegas, Nevada contains some of the world’s premier climbing destinations. It has outstanding sport climbing as well as a wide variety of shorter trad climbs all in very friendly red or white sandstone. Of special note are the long, many, many pitch trad climbs that attract rock climbers from all around the world. Special opportunities exist for bouldering as well.

The purpose of the virtual outing will be to give an overview of the nature of the climbing areas, their location, and their general approaches. While this information can be garnered from books or from friends, it is hard for a first-timer to gain that sense of where things are and what to look for. Hopefully this virtual outing will provide that preview so that you can maximize your climbing opportunities when you do visit.
