Walk on the Wild-Side at Van Saun County Park & The Bergen County Zoo!

Details

Come enjoy an approx. 3 mile easy, slow/moderate paced walk in the beautiful, historical Van Saun park which includes a fun filled visit to the zoo!

Admission is $2 for Jersey residents and $4 for others. The train and carousel are running this time of the year and are $3 for each.

The gift shop will be open so bring your credit cards and cash. The zoo closes at 4:30.

There will be several stops along the way for a little history and photo opts. Let's see if we can find the brick that our dear, old friend Jay Glaser dedicated to the zoo and is in the entrance floor to the zoo.

The paths are generally flat, paved or brick lined.

Walking shoes or sneakers are all you need. Bring Water and dress in layers.

You will see animals from around the world and have the opportunity for a close encounter with Mountain Lions. Some of the enclosures are not ideal and will hopefully be improved with time. Until then the zoo provides an educational experience and exposes children of all ages to animals they would not otherwise come into contact with. Hopefully when they grow up they will advocate for them.

Rest rooms are available throughout the park.

MEET: AT PARKING LOT 6, THE FIRST LOT ON YOUR RIGHT WHEN COMING IN FROM THE ENTRANCE ON FOREST AVE. SEE MAP IN PHOTOS AT BOTTOM OF EVENT FOR LAYOUT. (LOT #s on the map are very small and in black)

Optional early dinner, snacks or refreshments, if enough interest at the River Edge Diner at 516 Kinderkamack Rd., River Edge a short drive from the park.

Inclement weather cancels. Always check the day of an event for possible updates.
