Hike at the Phenomenal Croton Gorge County Park

Come feel the extraordinary power and magic of the Croton Gorge Dam, said to be the second or third largest hand-hewn stone structure in the world after the Great Wall of China and the Great Pyramids of Giza! It's our own little Niagara Falls! If you haven't been, it's a must for your Bucket list! The views are phenomenal!
We will be covering approximately 3 miles on gravel, sand and paved trails in addition to some grassy areas with a few moderate inclines going up to the top of the dam. Otherwise most of the trails are fairly flat. Approx. 2 hours. Slow/ moderate pace.
Weather resistant Hiking boots or shoes are recommended, snacks and Water which is Mandatory. Don't forget the Bug/Tick spray and sun protection. Pants tucked into socks if you plant to walk on the grass near the bottom of the dam.
Parking Fee w/ Westchester cnty park pass $5, others $10.
Port o johns should be available.
MEETUP in furthest parking lot by the playground and port o johns. After entering the park, cross the bridge, turn right and go to the furthest parking area.
Possible dinner at nearby venue if enough interest.

From Rockland and Bergen counties take the Bear Mt. bridge to 6 and 202 East, turning right after the bridge. At the next Annsville traffic circle turn right heading east on 202 and Rt6 and south on 9. Get off at exit for 9a North toward Rt 129. Turn left onto Municipal rd. At light turn left on Maple which is Rt 129. Go thru town and park entrance will be on your right soon after (look for park sign).
As with all of our events, you are responsible for your own safety and the safety of your guests. Hiking can be dangerous and injuries can occur, sometimes fatal. Trail blazes can sometimes be missing so there is always the possibility of getting off trail and possibly lost. Knowing this you agree to hike at your own risk and we cannot be held responsible for any injuries you or your guests may incur.
