Autumn on the Appalachian Trail at Pochuck Valley & Visit w/ the Farm Animals!

Details
Come celebrate the start of Autumn at one of our favorite hikes on part of the Appalachian trail, thru scenic farmland in Vernon and Warwick! Turtles, Praying Mantis and other wildlife often spotted at this time of the year.
This will be about a 2 1/2 hour hike covering approx. 6 miles at a slow/ moderate pace with a few breaks. We will be hiking on numerous boardwalks (single file is best on narrow paths) , a suspension bridge with stairs, a few short steep stairs and woods trails, mostly level with a few gentle ups and downs and some rocky areas. There are a few slightly brushy areas in the pasture so pants tucked into your socks is recommended as a tick prevention along with sun protection and bugspray. Hiking boots or shoes suggested, along with snacks and Mandatory WATER. Hiking poles may come in handy for one or two rocky, gentle inclines. Hike is easy to moderate.
After the hike a small special discounted donation of $2 is required to visit the animals and fair at the farm and enjoy some goat nuzzles. BRING QUARTERS for animal feed dispensers and check out the gift shop with lots of Halloween and seasonal goodies or you may want to come early to do a little shopping. Picnic tables may be available for a snack after or Optional dinner at Mahwah B & G, Characters or other local venue depending upon interest and availability.
Port o johns available. Restrooms may also be.
This trail is VERY POPULAR and TOO BUSY on the WEEKENDS for a group so come join us for this special journey if you can. It's not to be missed.
As with all of our events, you are responsible for your own safety and the safety of your guests. Hiking can be dangerous and injuries can occur, sometimes fatal. Trail blazes can sometimes be missing so there is always the possibility of getting off trail and possibly lost. Knowing this you agree to hike at your own risk and we cannot be held responsible for any injuries you or your guests may incur.
