Easy Eagle Search Walk at W. Haverstraws' Parks Along the Hudson!

The coast is clear so come on out and get re-energized, as we walk in search of the American Bald Eagle at a few of W. Haverstraws' most scenic parks by the Hudson River! Hopefully this time we'll be lucky as many have been in the area this winter. Feature photo was taken a few weeks ago.

This will be about a 2 hour walk at a slow/moderate pace covering approx. 3-4 miles on mainly level paved paths and roads with breaks to take in all the sites. We will walk along the Hudson to Bowline Point Park and back and then walk around Pecks' Pond. Park access to Bowline is never a definite. We will drive over to Haverstraw Bay County Park for a short walk and to look for more eagles. We can also drive to a few other, nearby spots where you can usually find them.

Optional dinner at Lynches or other nearby venue depending upon interest and availability.

Not for singles only.

All you need are supportive, I suggest water resistant walking/hiking shoes/boots for any wet areas we might encounter though most should be cleared.

Bring WATER(mandatory), Protein snacks, sun protection, cameras for you shutterbugs and binoculars in search of the Bald Eagles and other migratory birds!

Restrooms should be available Bowline Pt. Park and possibly also in the Hav. Village Center if they are open and Hav, Bay County Park.

DIRECTIONS TO PARKING LOT: From Route 9W North/South: At the intersection of Route 9W and Railroad Avenue, turn east onto Railroad Avenue. Proceed .2 miles to the stop sign. Make a right onto Samsondale Avenue. Proceed .5 miles. The West Haverstraw Village Hall is located on the left side of Samsondale Avenue at intersection with Bowline Plant Rd.. Turn left onto Bowline Plant Road. Pass Village Hall on your left and park in big parking lot on your left in front of ballpark and by basketball courts.

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway Northbound: Exit at #13 Haverstraw/Suffern. Turn left onto Thiells/Mt. Ivy Road. Proceed 1.8 miles. At light, make a right onto Suffern Lane/Railroad Avenue. Proceed 2.1 miles to the stop sign. Make a right onto Samsondale Avenue. Proceed .5 miles. The West Haverstraw Village Hall is located on the left side of Samsondale Avenue at intersection w/ Bowline Plant Rd.. Turn left onto Bowline Plant Road. Pass Village Hall on your left and park in big parking lot on your left in front of ballpark and by basketball courts.

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway Southbound: Exit at #14 Willow Grove Road/Letchworth Village. Make a left onto Willow Grove Rd/Filor’s Lane. Proceed 2.6 miles to light at the intersection of Route 9W. Make a right onto Route 9W South. Travel .5 miles to light. Make a left onto Railroad Avenue. Proceed 2.1 miles to the stop sign. Make a right onto Samsondale Avenue. Proceed .5 miles. The West Haverstraw Village Hall is located on the left side of Samsondale Ave. at intersection with Bowline Plant Rd.. Turn left onto Bowline Plant Road. Pass Village Hall on your left and park in big parking lot on your left in front of ballpark and by basketball courts.
