Spring Ahead for Weehawken's Extraordinary River Walk

Daylight savings time has begun and sunset won't be til about 7:15 so no more worries about driving home in the dark!
Soooo, come on down to Weehawken, for some stunning views along our beautiful Hudson River on the southern end of the Riverwalk. If we're lucky we may still spot the adorable Monk/Quaker parrots or even an Eagle or two as we have before! We also saw some rare, Brant Geese so keep your eyes peeled!

This section of the riverwalk includes Weehawken Park with a 9-11 Memorial as seen in the feature photo, the Port Imperial Ferry Station and more! There is one spot that will re-route us to the riverwalk at a section that is not yet complete.

The walk will be 2-3 hours at a slow, mod. pace covering approx. 5-6 miles with several stops.

The paths are mostly flat, with possibly a few dips and uneven spots so careful footing is always necessary. Keep to the right on the path to allow everyone to pass comfortably.

Not for singles only.

WATER is MANDATORY. Weather resistant Sneakers or supportive walking or hiking shoes(depending upon previous day's weather) should suffice along with snacks, binoculars, sun protection and cameras of course.
Dress in layers.

Bring cash and credit cards for possible dinner at the Chart House on the walk back or Giovannis Bicycle Club in Englewood, The 9W Market in Palisades, NY or other venue depending upon interest and availability.

PARK in Whole Foods garage on Riverview Terrace. Parking has been free. It is generally for Whole Foods patrons so be sure to run in and buy something. :0) Parking is technically limited to 2 hours but not generally enforced. Parking is at your own discretion. See photo of map. There is also a parking garage across from Whole Foods. My # is 845-216-5011.

MEETUP by benches on riverwalk facing THE CHART HOUSE PARKING LOT ACROSS THE STREET FROM Wholefoods. Upon leaving the parking lot you must turn left then right and left. You will see the Chart House on your right, riverside.

REMEMBER TO LEAVE YOURSELF EXTRA TIME AS IT IS A BUSY AREA.

Rest rooms are available in Whole Foods and you may want to pick up a snack there if you need. Restrooms are also available at The Port Imperial Ferry Station and possibly other venues.
