What we’re about

Joyful Mind Zen Community supports the practice of Zen meditation and mindfulness and welcomes all who want to practice a simple silent meditation. Our meditation periods are 25-minutes, interspersed with 5 minutes of walking meditation, a teacher talk, tea or community sharing. We sit at the Rockville United Church. You may sit on a chair or a cushion. If you have questions, please ask us.

Our teacher is authorized to teach Zen meditation, mindfulness, and contemplative practice with 20 years experience. Our community is joyful, welcoming, and sincere in practicing the way of wisdom, peace, and compassion in our daily lives. Sitting meditation (za-zen) is a way to bring awareness to the present moment, and being attentive to all things. Walking meditation helps us bring stillness to activity. Instruction is provided.

We meet weekly for sitting meditation and walking meditation on Sunday evenings, Monday and Tuesday afternoons, and for Retreats. No experience necessary. Cushions and chairs provided. All are welcome.
