
What we’re about
We offer simple meditation in a traditional Zen format, for all people. Interfaith, all abilities.
The practice is simple--silence, mindfulness, walking, and breathing. This group is led by authorized meditation instructor Martine Palmiter and Zen Teacher. For our other practice times Sunday evening, see HERE
We meet weekly for one hour to practice simple silent mindful meditation and walking meditation. Short encouragement talk and walking meditation.
Suitable for beginners. We welcome all to practice with us, we are non-denominational. All are welcome. Freely offered to bring more peace and rest to the world. Suitable for beginners or anyone wanting to learn or practice silent meditation.
Mondays Schedule 4:30-5:30 pm: Two short periods of meditation totaling 30 minutes with walking meditation and discussion. Brief teacher instruction at 4:30 pm, then 10 minutes of silent meditation. We sit in chairs. Then, a 5-minute silent walking meditation, then we sit for another round of 20 minutes of silent meditation, followed by a gratitude verse, tea and a poem, and brief reflections about the poem before heading home.
Tuesdays Schedule: 4:45-6 pm
Two periods of 25 minutes silent meditation, followed by 5 minutes silent walking meditation. An encouragement talk by a teacher, instruction is also offered upon request. You can sit in a chair or on a cushion on the floor. We close our meditation with chants or reciting Zen verses of encouragement.

6 pm--Depart/clean ZendoJoyful Mind Zen Community offers Zen practice, teaching, sitting and walking meditation on Sundays, Monday and Tuesday in our Rockville Zendo. All are welcome, no experience necessary, free to all.

We are a small group of meditators who practice together. Any faith tradition can practice simple Zen meditation. You are welcome to join us! We practice 30 minutes total (10 and 20 minutes with walking meditation in between ) of silent Zen meditation weekly in a small group setting. Suitable for beginners. Brief instruction is given. We are non-denominational. Open to all.
We meet in a room In Rockville United Church in Twinbrook, MD. Plenty of parking in a residential neighborhood.
Led by an authorized Zen Meditation teacher who offers a brief reading or instruction on meditation, and we also offer a poem or words of encouragement.
We start with a 10 minute period of silence after a bell, walking meditation followed by 20 minutes of meditation. We end with a poem about practice, life, with tea and brief conversation.This is a good place to rest and refresh on the way home from work and before dinner. Free. Try it.
