Join us in Upstate New York for the final stage of the March to Abolish Animal Testing (MAAT)!

Animal protectors from across the country are coming together for this historic walk of compassion, and we’ll be there for the grand finale—and the final push to end unnecessary animal suffering.

This 4-day/3-night Meetup is for those who want to play a meaningful role in this historic event but aren’t able to participate in the full 207-mile march.

Our Cause
Our goal is to help generate the public attention necessary to challenge the cruel operations at Marshall BioResources, one of the largest breeders and suppliers of animals for research in the United States.

Animal experimentation can no longer be justified. Science has advanced, and increasingly sophisticated, human-relevant testing methods are now available. Meanwhile, investigations have brought unnecessary animal suffering into public view.

Meaningful policy change is long overdue.

We’ve recently seen major victories at Ridglan Farms. The March to Abolish Animal Testing was created to build on that momentum by directing public attention toward Marshall BioResources and the broader system of animal breeding and experimentation it represents.

Right now, we have a real opportunity to make a difference.

Our presence matters. Showing up in large numbers can help this march attract the publicity and public attention necessary to reach policymakers, decision-makers, and the wider public.

The full 207-mile March to Abolish Animal Testing begins September 11 in Albany, NY, and concludes September 26 in North Rose, NY, with a peaceful protest at Marshall BioResources.

OUR ITINERARY

Thursday — Travel to Upstate New York
9:45 AM — Meet at Shawan Road Park & Ride to consolidate cars
Optional: 9:00 AM meetup at a Fulton/Columbia-area Park & Ride, location TBD
10:00 AM — Begin the drive north
We'll make four stops along the way:

  • Two rest stops
  • Juice bar
  • Dinner at a vegan Thai restaurant

~6:00 PM — Arrive
Evening: MAAT Community Event

Friday — March + Wayne County Protest
8:00 AM — Join the march (Roughly 15 miles)
3:00 PM — Protest at the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office
6:00 PM — Group dinner
7:00 PM — Optional MAAT Pizza Party for those with transportation

Saturday — Grand Finale
9:00 AM — Lake swim
10:30 AM — Join the march (Last 3 miles!)
11:30 AM — Protest at Marshall BioResources
4:00 PM — Group dinner

Sunday — Lake Swim + Scenic Trip Home
8:00 AM — Airbnb cleanup
9:15 AM — Depart for Maryland
Planned stops along the way:
11:00 AM — Farm Sanctuary Tour

Plus:

  • Lunch
  • Shikellamy Lookout

COSTS:

Accommodations
Choose the option that works best for you.
We currently have a few spaces available in an Airbnb at approximately $300 per person for three nights, depending on your choice of room/bed.
More budget-friendly options, including camping, can also be discussed if you're interested in joining.

Transportation
Gas and tolls: Divided among passengers and paid to your driver. Exact cost will depend on the number of people sharing each vehicle.

Food & Water
Everyone is responsible for their own food and water.

Farm Sanctuary
$25 for the optional tour, paid directly to Farm Sanctuary.

CARPOOL & SUPPORT
We'll do our best to organize drivers, passengers, accommodations, and other logistics in advance, although some last-minute adjustments may be necessary.

Everyone is ultimately responsible for their own food, water, transportation, and accommodations—but we're also going to help one another make this as easy and enjoyable as possible.

When you register with MAAT, you'll become part of our official team, (Team 15). The march will also have coordinated support vehicles helping participants reach accommodations and meet basic logistical needs.
