Nonviolent Communication Fundamentals Training

Details
Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a tool for healing and improving relationships. It teaches us how to be present with what is alive in us and focus our messages on our feelings and needs in a way that is likely to create empathic connection in even our most difficult relationships.
In this 6-week online course we will learn the fundamentals of NVC, including: Objects Feelings Needs Requests (OFRN), empathic listening, and role play techniques used to practice having difficult conversations with positive outcomes.
WHEN
The course is scheduled for the following six Wednesdays:
9/24, 10/1, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5
Each week we will build on the last, so all 6 are required for this training. If you cannot make it to a class you must let the instructor know ahead of time so as to plan how to make up the material.
WHERE
This course will be online. The meeting link will be updated in this event description before the first class.
COST
We are offering this fundamentals training as donation-based. Pay what you will based on your means and the value you get out of the class. Later cohorts may have a required fee based on what we learn this time around.
The official textbook for this course is Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life. You can find it online or at your local library.
WHAT
You will get a training in the fundamentals of NVC, which gets you access to the Denver NVC Practice Group, where we meet twice a month to heal and train our NVC skills.
WHO
This event is offered through the Rocky Mountain Compassionate Communication Network (RMCCN) as part of its ongoing mission to empower people to prevent or peacefully resolve conflicts and arrive at workable solutions that meet everyone's needs.
The instructor for this course is Mauro "Mo" Perez, a Certified Nonviolent Communication Trainer Candidate. Mo started teaching NVC in January 2025 as part of his own mission to help people heal and promote peace through improved relationships. He also runs the Denver NVC Practice Group twice a month, which students of this training will be eligible to join upon completion.
