Nonviolent Communication Fundamentals Training

Are you looking to understand yourself and someone else you may not be getting along with? Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a set of tools, tried and true, which help us get in touch clearly with what's alive in us, and communicate it clearly, with minimal chance for distortion, to others.
This 6-week online course is tailored as a perfect onboarding to NVC. It covers all the basics and prepares you to take part in any ongoing NVC practice group. You'll also join a growing community of empathic listeners, ready to support you in your personal journey of showing up wit more compassion in your own life.
WHEN
The course begins Wednesday January 7, 2026 and is scheduled for the following six weeks: 1/7, 1/14, 1/21, 1/28, 2/4, 2/11
This course works best with 100% attendance. Please let your instructor know ahead of time of any conflicts. A make-up session will be made available in the case of any necessary absence.

COST
This fundamentals training is being offered on an open donation basis. Pay what you will based on your means and the value you get out of the class. The donation link will be shared at the end of each class.
MATERIALS
You'll need pen, paper, and the textbook for this course. You can find the official textbook, Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life, for this course online or at your local library. Here are a couple online purchasing options:
WHAT TO EXPECT
In this training you will...
- learn the fundamentals of NVC including OFNR (observations, feelings, needs, requests), empathic listening, and various exercises for applying the tools.
- receive a certificate of completion with total hours, which counts towards RMCCN and CNVC trainer accreditation.
- gain access to the East Denver NVC Practice Group, which meets twice a month to heal and train our NVC skills.
WHO
This event is offered through the Rocky Mountain Compassionate Communication Network (RMCCN) as part of its ongoing mission to empower people to prevent or peacefully resolve conflicts and arrive at workable solutions that meet everyone's needs.
The instructor for this course is Mauro "Mo" Perez, a Certified Nonviolent Communication Trainer Candidate. Mo started teaching NVC in January 2025 as part of his own work for world peace. He also is a facilitator for authentic relating, men's circles, and creative recovery groups.
