RMCC Road Ride: Golden - Idaho Springs - Echo Lake loop

This is a classic, super-scenic ride from the Golden area and a great way to kick off summer riding! We'll meet at Beverly Heights Park at the base of Lookout Mountain at 7:45 for an 8:00 departure. After climbing Lookout we'll take the combination of frontage roads and bike paths to Idaho Springs. From there we do the super-scenic climb up to Echo Lake and then Juniper Pass. From there, it's almost all downhill--down Squaw Pass, through Bergen Park, and down Lookout.

Total route is 70 miles with 7600 feet of climbing. While all of the ride is either up or down, it's perhaps a bit unusual for an RMCC ride in that it doesn't feature anything super steep. But the scenery more than makes us for that!

As with all of our weekend rides, this is a drop ride but we do regroup periodically.

For those who have ridden this in the past, the Echo Lake Lodge has been closed down, so that store option no longer exists. :(

If you are newer to the area, do note that this ride goes up to 11,000 feet and the descent may be chilly even if it's warm down in Golden--bring a jacket!
