What we're about

The Rocky Mountain Synthesizer Meetup - founded in 2012 - is the home of 800+ Denver & Boulder Front Range synth geeks. It was winner of Best Music Meetup (http://www.westword.com/best-of/2017/arts-and-entertainment/best-music-meetup-8919194) in 2017 by Westword Magazine. We have 75 or so active members at any one time and meetup sizes range from 25-65 people depending on topic. It's a community where synth enthusiasts of all levels meet to:

· Share their passion for synths
· Network
· Get inspired
· Get hands-on with gear
· Share info about projects
· Find collaborators

A typical meetup features a presentation selected from a broad variety of topics ranging from reviews of new synths, overviews of synth technology, how-to lectures on synthesis and performance technique, and fun community events like Synth Petting Zoos, and Modular Synth Lightning Patch Walkthroughs. This is followed by socializing and often a performance by a meetup members.

#75 Petting Zoo / Used Gear Swap

Wmd

The epic petting zoo event is back! As we are getting close to the holidays and Black Friday I thought it would be interesting and helpufl to combine this with a used gear swap (buy / sell / trade). Performer is TBA. GENERAL LOGISTICS • WMD is providing the room and rectangular folding tables. • These events are usually quite popular so if you are bringing gear to show off at the petting zoo or items for the gear swap, ** please limit table space you'll need to around a 61 key controller wide so we can fit at least two people per table **. If you have more stuff than will fit on the table you'll need to set it on the floor. • Bring your own chair. As this is a warehouse they don’t have chairs so bring a folding chair if you plan on taking a seat. • It’s BYOB and snacks and we’ll have a cooler. • The petting zoo / gear swap is a headphones only event. EVERYONE bring headphones. I recommend an adapter so you can check out instruments with 1/4" and 1/8" headphone outs. This is a habit you should get into for every meetup :^) PETTING ZOO LOGISTICS • This is an "anything goes" petting so keyboards, drum machines, desktop synths, eurorack… • Bring an extension cord and power strips if you are not running on battery. USED GEAR SWAP (BUY / SELL / TRADE LOGISTICS) • If you want to use all or part of your table space for the gear swap please keep your items synth or audio related. Things like mics, stands, cases, cables, hardware effects are welcome in addition to synths. If you are selling something that needs power I recommend you bring an extension cord and power strip. • It's up to the buyers & sellers to sort out transactions for gear. • If you want to transact with something other than cash you might want to have some app setup and ready to go for that before the event so your not say fumbling around trying to remember your PayPal password. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 7:00-7:30 Arrive, get name tag, consider a donation, petting zoo / gear swap participants setup your gear 7:30-7:45 Meetup kickoff and announcements. 7:45-9:00 Petting Zoo / Gear Swap / Mingling 9:00-9:30 Performance TBA 9:30-10:00 Petting Zoo / Gear Swap / Mingling / Load Out
