About us
## Welcome to Rogue Writers Edinburgh (RWE)
Founded by the late Peter Muego and James Gibson, RWE has evolved from its roots in the face-to-face Edinburgh Creative Writers Club into a thriving, independent virtual community. Since 2020, we have provided a dedicated space for writers from around the world to sharpen their craft and find their voice.
### Joining the Circle
We value the safety and authenticity of our members. To join us, we ask for:
- Your full legal name (as listed on your original birthday certificate).
- A link to an active social media profile.
Once registered, you’ll receive the weekly meeting details and password.
### Presence & Participation
Writing is a solitary act, but growth happens together. We ask all attendees to stay on camera for the majority of our sessions to help build genuine camaraderie. We know "Zoom fatigue" is a factor, so please feel free to go off-camera during readings and scheduled breaks.
### What to Expect
Whether you are an aspiring novelist or a seasoned poet, RWE is a friendly, non-judgmental forum for constructive feedback.
- Genres: We welcome fiction, non-fiction, poetry, lyrics, haikus, limericks and everything in between.
- Reading: There is never pressure to share. If you do choose to read, please limit your selection to 2,000 words of prose or 2–3 poems to ensure everyone has a turn.
### A Note on Self-Promotion
We support our members' successes! If you are an entrepreneur or author looking to promote your work, business, or fundraisers:
- Establish a consistent attendance record first.
- Request written permission from the Chair before posting ads in DMs, group chats, or on Meetup boards.
### Support the Group
If you find value in our sessions, consider contributing to help us cover our Meetup and Zoom overhead. You can support the community here:
