Please join us on a leisurely walk to Sherwin Lake on Wednesday morning, June 28. This is one of the few accessible hikes in the area at the moment since the unbelievable winter we had. We will meet in front of the Union Bank parking lot in Mammoth Lakes, opposite Von's, at 8:30AM sharp (come a few minutes earlier if you can) and we will carpool from there. The final road to the trailhead is certainly passable, though somewhat washed out in a few places. The trail is mostly dry, with a small wet area early in the hike. The hike largely follows a series of switchbacks to a height of land, then is mostly flat to downhill to the lake. A moderate hike of about 4 1/2 miles round trip and about 1100 feet of elevation gain r.t. For those who may have been to the lake before, you may be surprised at the amount of water this year! If we're lucky, we may see or least hear blue grouse.

Please come prepared with layered clothing, good hiking boots, hat, water, snacks, bug repellent (not needed this past week, but they may be coming soon). Optional: hiking poles, camera. Participants will be required to sign a Sierra Club waiver. No dogs, please. Maximum 12 participants. PLEASE RSVP, either here on Meetup or contact me directly (Dick, rhihn@skidmore.edu; 760-709-0637). Looking forward to seeing you!
