What we’re about
A few years ago I joined a Romance book club looking to discuss Romance novels with other readers. At first it was great, but then we kept reading white, cis, het Romance novels. When novels that fell outside of that category were discussed, there was a palpable discomfort. When an alien-human Romance was mentioned in the same sentence as "diversity", I knew I needed to create another space. So, this is Romance Gets Real! Here, we'll discuss BIPOC and LGBTQIA representation and its intersections in Romance novels and other media. (squeeing and gushing allowed and encouraged!)

Our next book club meetup will be a bit further away due to a hectic Fall season, but the book isn't even out yet! It's a novella, releasing on September 23, so there's plenty of time. It's part of this year's released-for-the-season reads the Scared Sexy Collection. We're returning to a tried and true author and reading My Boyfriends Are All Monsters (Scared Sexy Collection) by Kimberly Lemming.
