What we’re about
This group is created for writers of the romance genre in all its different subgenres (historical romance, romantasy, paranormal romance, etc.) to come together and discuss all things romance writing, publishing, marketing, networking, and overall to connect with local writers and refill the creative well.
This group meets monthly on the second Saturday of every month at the NSW State Library Café (currently in the Mitchell Building while the main library is under constriction for the remainder of 2025). This group already has some members who attend regularly, so you won't be the only one to show up!
This group is dedicated to members of Romance Writers of Australia (RWA). Non-members may attend up to 3 meet-ups to see if this group and the RWA is a fit for them. After 3 meet-ups, you will need to join the RWA to continue attending. If you have any questions about the organisation, we're happy to answer them for you during our meet-up. You may find more information on the website: https://romanceaustralia.com/
This group is NOT designed for writers of other genres (memoir, sci-fi, non-fiction, screenwriting, poetry, etc.) We encourage romance writers to attend and see if our group fits what they're looking for. We do not bring writing samples or read aloud for feedback in this group. This is a chance to talk and foster real connection with other writers! Current members have found beta readers, sensitivity readers, critique partners, and lifelong friendships through this group.
Please note that, while this is a mostly female group, the RWA is a diverse and inclusive organisation. We welcome all races, genders, ethnicities, religious (and non-religious) backgrounds, etc. Intolerance and discrimination of others will not be tolerated. Anyone behaving in a way that makes others feel uncomfortable will removed from the group and banned from further meet-ups, and potentially be reported to the RWA if they are a member/intend to become a member.
(This description was not created using AI. If you use AI in any part of your writing process, please do not join this meet-up group or attend our meet-ups. Use of AI is highly discouraged by RWA.)
