WILD ABRUZZO — Hike to Tagliacozzo Castle & “Little Switzerland”🥾🌿🏰

Discover the wild beauty of Abruzzo through the eyes of artists like Edward Lear. This guided hike takes us from the picturesque town of Tagliacozzo along ancient mule trails (Sentiero dei Muli), past rivers, playful waterfalls and a small canyon, up to the evocative ruins of the Castle of Tagliacozzo and the scenic area known as “Little Switzerland.” Stunning mountain views on the horizon complete the experience.

- Approx. 3.5 hours of walking (excluding briefing, explanations and rest breaks)
- Please arrive 15 minutes before departure.

- Meeting location: Tagliacozzo (exact meeting point sent after RSVP)
- Accessible by train from Rome in under 2 hours
- Language: English
- Route: Out-and-back hike starting and ending in Tagliacozzo (with some variations possible)
- Difficulty: Medium — ~9 km distance, ~320 m elevation gain; uneven, rocky terrain and possible river crossings

- Hiking shoes (waterproof)
- At least 1.5 L water
- Layered clothing suitable for hiking

- This is a professional activity in accordance with EU legislation and Italian law no. 4/2003. The guide is registered with the Italian Association of Interpretive Nature Guides (AIGAE).
- Suitable for hikers with medium fitness; river crossings and uneven terrain mean this is not recommended for those with limited mobility.
