Open Garden Walk

Details

Planting this naturalized landscape started 6 years ago. There is a long screening hedge. Plants for food, medicine, craft and habitat fill the .44 acre property. You can see inkberry, winterberry, aronia, hazelnut, snowberry, shadbush, juneberry. Balsam fir, arborvitae, hardy pecan, beach plum and persimmon. Raspberries, strawberries & blueberries. Agastache, yarrow, bee balm and other herbs. Plenty of rudebeckia, fennel and more. The annual garden beds are primarily for food to store for winter. This is an informal educational garden finally coming into its own. There will be plants to share this fall and in the spring.

The 100 year-old arts & crafts kit home was neglected and has undergone significant repairs. It is the blue house on the corner across from Darling's on Rt 32. There are 3 driveways. One on either side of the house and one on the south end. Please pull all the way in to leave room for others. Please do not park in front of the neighbor's house - Tillson is a very busy road. There is additional parking one property over at Wine Racks, (not Gen Plus which is next door) if you are concerned about getting out.

Claudia Joseph started her permaculture path in 1996 and has taught on both coasts. If you can't make this event, contact her through the meetup to schedule another time to visit.
