As spring quickly unfolds we can easily observe nature at work. I will be opening my landscape to cooperative members who would like to share knowledge about plants and design principles. Even a small property can demonstrate soil management, compost production, no-till annual beds, pruning, transplanting, neighbor relationships and labor-saving techniques.

The weather and landscape are the teachers as "nature working" is the lesson. Get ideas for your own garden or improve mine with your keen perspective. We can better see the bones of the garden before leaves emerge. Now is the time thin or prune perennial plants and to recognize and pull pernicious weeds. Annual beds need to be prepped, compost turned and mulch adjusted. Strawberries and raspberries multiply so some will be given away.

This site emphasizes a full use of onsite organic materials for fertility and structures. The plantings will continue to develop over time as permaculture design dictates: change is a constant. We are in an environment where learning to respond in the moment is necessary and looking ahead ten years is an asset, too. My hope is that members will get to know each other in addition to learning about resilient systems.

Severe storms will cancel whereas light rain may not. Soil compaction is a risk at this time of year so group size is limited to 6 people at a time. This is the first session of Look & Learn and I hope many more will follow. Rather than charging a fee, gifts and reciprocity will be favored.
