Somewhere along the way, a lot of us learned to be hard on ourselves. Some of it we picked up. Some of it got handed to us. And without meaning to, we may pass it right down to the people around us.
This is a space to look at that honestly.
Rooted Talk is a discussion space for the Black diaspora in Chiang Mai. We gather around one topic and share what we actually think, feel, and have lived. The goal is understanding, not performance. Not to win, not to fix each other. Just to talk like people who take each other seriously.
For our first session we're examining where it begins: the relationship with yourself.
We'll get into questions like:
- Where does self-criticism show up in how you relate to the people around you?
- How do we pass down to others what was passed down to us?
Then we close by naming what we're taking with us.
This is not a space for misogyny, homophobia, or policing anyone's Blackness. Come as you are.
