Colors of Comfort & Joy- A Roots & Routes Society Holiday Gathering & Giving

Location: TBD — we’d love to host this in a member’s clubhouse, community room, or other welcoming space IN METRO ATLANTA to help reduce event costs. If you can offer a space, please let us know in the event comments/ discussion when you RSVP!

Colors of Comfort & Joy is a cozy holiday hangout after the turkey but before the Christmas rush, with great food, laughter, and a colorful way to help local families. Bring a color-themed basket of comfort items and a “bottle of joy” to share as we enjoy globally inspired food, soulful music, and lively GAME ON! challenges. Together we’ll fill the room with color, community, and kindness — and brighten the holidays for local families in need.

### ✨ How to Participate

1. Choose a color — any color that speaks to you.
2. Fill a laundry basket or bin "baskets of comfort" with comfort items in that color: cozy throws, candles, self-care goodies, kitchen tools, pantry staples, cleaning supplies, or whatever says “comfort.”
3. Bring a “bottle of joy” to share. Wine, bubbly, cider, mocktail, or a favorite festive drink.
4. Wear your chosen color so the room becomes a living rainbow of comfort and joy.

These baskets will be gifted to local families to help brighten their season.
Examples:

• 💛 Sunshine Yellow – lemon candles, dish soap, tea towels, snacks
• 💙 Brilliant Blue – laundry pods, blankets, mugs, bath items
• ❤️ Warm Red – cookware, sauces & pasta, holiday treats
• 🌿 Fresh Green – cleaning sprays, self-care kits, cozy socks

### 🍽️ Food & Music — Diasporic Celebration

Food will be from across the African diaspora. Soulful comfort, island spice, African flavors all sourced from local eateries. (nothing privately prepared)
Music will travel the African diaspora too: Afrobeat • Amapiano • R&B • Soul • Caribbean soca • festive vibes.
