A Rosicrucian Outing in New York City

Details

Our Rosicrucian adventure will begin at the Roerich Museum at 319 West 107th Street in Harlem. Nicholas Roerich, a prolific writer and painter, philosopher, and peace activist, became a member of AMORC in 1929, the period in which he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. He was named as the legate for AMORC in the Himalayas. The Roerich Museum displays 150 of his beautiful and inspiring paintings, including the well-known “Mother of the World.” Join Grand Master Julie Scott in exploring some of these beautiful works of art. Admission to the museum is free, although donations are welcome.

The Museum is on 107th street, between Broadway & Riverside Drive closer to Riverside Drive. Take the #1 train to 110th Street and Broadway, or the M104 bus to 108th Street and Broadway, or the M5 bus to 108th Street and Riverside Drive.

Following our visit here, we will take the subway to the Church of the Village at 201 W 13th Street (at Seventh Avenue) in Greenwich Village. We plan to arrive here by 3:45 pm. The closest subway stops are the 1, 2, 3, F, and M trains at 14th Street.

Formerly known as the Church of the Open Door, it was here, in 1908, that H. Spencer Lewis had a mystical experience that inspired him to seek out the Rosicrucians. After many tests and trials, he finally met the Rosicrucians of France, in Toulouse, in 1909, and agreed to re-establish the Rosicrucian Order in the United States in 1915.

Here, Grand Master Scott will share some of the history of the founding of AMORC in New York City. Then we will enjoy a Musical Spectacular in the church, with contralto Vira Slywotzky and pianist David Sytkowski performing opera arias and show tunes as well a classical and popular songs. This one-hour concert is free, although donations are welcome.

We have reserved twenty tickets for the concert. Please RSVP, if you would like us to hold a ticket for you.
