Ross County Park District Events

Pollinators play a vast and extremely important role in our ecosystem and in our lives! Birds, bees, bugs, and more help plants reproduce and pollinate! We will meet as a group in the parking lot on the corner of Anderson Station Rd. and Maple Grove Rd. Please, no nets. The Park District will provide supplies and responsibly capture pollinators for all to view.

Come and hike through one of Ross County’s hidden gems and adventure into areas unseen by most. With winding trails, fields, and dense forest, Metahqua has a lot to see and a lot to explore! Strap on those hiking shoes, grab a water bottle, and meet us in the parking lot to set out for a 2-mile hike full of adventure. Please, no dogs.

They see in the dark and fly through the night. Some are cute and some can cause fright. All of them good but often times scary. These little mammals are little and hairy. Did you guess it’s a bat!? Join Naturalist Ted as we fly into the nighttime world of these incredible creatures. Meet in the lower parking lot for a short introduction, then we will take a short half-mile hike to “the Den”, where we will learn more, make a fun craft, and enjoy a tasty treat. Please dress for inclement weather and bring a light (red lights if you have them).

Rocks that are rounded and gems that are pointed. Stones and minerals that are metamorphid. Crystals that shine and make pretty rings. These are a few of my favorite things!
Fun for all, Geology club dives deep into learning more about our planet and the minerals within it. Meet in the lower parking lot for a short half-mile walk up to the Nature Center, where we will ID rocks, discuss geological current events, and more!
Not just for adults. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. See you there!
