Bergen op Zoom forest hike (19km)

Bergen op Zoom forest hike 20-08-2023

The gathering point is Bergen op Zoom train station just outside the main exit. We will leave at 10:00. This is a round trip so we will end back at the same station. For those who are interested, we will go from the end point to the Irish pub in Bergen op Zoom for a post-hike drink.

Admission fee: 1,- Euro cash on the day of the walk.

On this walk we will see the following things:

The forests surrounding Bergen op Zoom

Commonwealth War Cemetary

Het Gleuvenstrand beach

Fort De Roovere with the Moses Bridge and assorted other forts

This walk is about 19 km of a mix of paved road and dirt track. We will stop mid-way at a restaurant for lunch .

In case of extreme bad weather, no interest or any other reason the walk can be cancelled.

We will of course respect all the rules and regulations concerning Corona.

Who should sign up:

Anyone who is reasonably fit and can hike at a pace of up to 6 km an hour (expect 5-5.5 on the day depending on the group).

What to bring:

Decent shoes: with good gripping/traction soles

Plenty of water is essential

Some snacks

Hat - for sunny weather

Raincoat

'No shows' will be recorded and habitual 'No Shows' will be removed from the group. If you cannot make it, be courteous and update your RSVP.
