What we’re about
Tired of swiping? So was I.
Dating apps left me feeling disconnected and drained and too often, they seemed designed more to keep you scrolling than to help you find someone real. That’s why I created Offline Hearts: a space for expat singles in their 30s and 40s in Rotterdam who are looking for something genuine, offline, and human.
This group is for people who are grounded, emotionally mature, and ready to build meaningful connections, whether romantic or friendly, through shared experiences and great conversations.
We’ll host fun, low-pressure events like swing dancing nights, kayaking trips, cinema evenings, 80s dance parties, group cycling, and visits to things like the BlueCity Townhalls. Think active, playful, conscious, and kind, just like the people we hope to meet.
If you're someone who wants a loving, healthy relationship… enjoys being active and curious about the world and prefers people over pixels, this is for you.
Who We're For:
Expat singles (30s & 40s) living in the Rotterdam area who are:
- Stable in their own lives and looking for the same in others
- Physically active and enjoy staying healthy
- Caring toward people and our environment
- Playful and curious about life
- Seeking genuine, healthy relationships
- Ready to move beyond the superficial dating app experience
What We Do:
We organize regular activities that bring together people with similar values:
- Cinema nights - discussing films that matter to us
- Dance evenings - swing dancing, 80s nights, and more
- Active adventures - cycling through Dutch countryside, kayaking local waterways
- Community engagement - BlueCity Townhalls and sustainability events
- Social gatherings - seasonal celebrations, cultural exchanges
Our Philosophy:
Dating apps are designed to keep you scrolling, not to help you find your person. We believe meaningful connections happen when you're doing things you love alongside people who share your values. Whether you're looking for your life partner or expanding your social circle with quality people, this group prioritizes authentic interactions over algorithms.
What to Expect:
Small, intimate gatherings (typically 8-15 people) where you can actually have conversations and get to know each other. No pressure, no profiles to swipe - just good people doing interesting things together. Some connections will be friendships, some might be more - and that's exactly how it should be.
Ready to try a different approach? Join us for our next event and experience what genuine connection feels like.
About the Organizer:
Hi! I’m Tanner, an Environmental Psychologist living and working in Rotterdam. Offline Hearts grew out of my own search for authentic connection beyond apps, both for friendship and love. Sometimes I’ll post events I already plan to attend; think of these as open invitations to join in. My goal is to gather a community of kind, curious, and active people who are excited to meet each other in real life.
Group Guidelines: We maintain a respectful, inclusive environment. All events are alcohol-optional, and we welcome people regardless of relationship history, background, or where you are in your personal journey - as long as you're committed to treating others with kindness and authenticity.

- The Case for a Philosophical Life — Talk & Discussion at ArminiusArminius, Rotterdam
What does it really mean to live a philosophical life — and why might it be worth pursuing? Join us at Arminius for a thought-provoking evening with philosopher Agnes Callard, who argues that philosophy isn't just an academic discipline but a way of life. In her engaging talk, Callard explores how philosophy can help us grow, challenge our assumptions, and reshape our understanding of ourselves and the world.
Be certain to buy your ticket at: https://arminius.nl/programma/the-case-for-a-philosophical-life-w-agnes-callard/
We’ll meet up at 19:00 ahead of time for a drink or snack and to get to know each other. The talk itself starts at 20:00.
After the lecture, there will be plenty of room for discussion and reflection together with other curious minds.
