The year, 1994.

CHARACTER CREATION
This is a D&D 5e adventure for 3rd-level characters, using the 2024 Player’s Handbook rules with full backward compatibility. That means: if a rule or feature appears in the 2024 PHB, use that version. If it does not, default to the most recent official printed version. Homebrew content is not allowed for this adventure.
All official species, classes, and subclasses are permitted.
Ability Scores
This world has bred tougher creatures; it’s survival of the fittest in this savage land. As such, ability scores are determined differently.
Roll four 4-sided dice (d4) and add 4 to the total.
Do this five more times, so that you have six numbers.
Then arrange those six numbers as desired across your ability scores: Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma.
The maximum starting ability score is 22, but stats may be gradually increased to a cap of 24.
Equipment
Use only your starting equipment, or purchase items from the PHB using the starting gold granted by your Background and Class.
*Firearms do exist in this setting, and may be purchased with starting gold if you can somehow afford it—but keep in mind that ammunition is rare.
