“The world you walk is a graveyard of empires. Once, kingdoms raised banners and gods were worshiped in gilded halls. All of that ended fifty-five years ago, when the Red City appeared in the sky without warning. From it descended the Steel Dominion, an army of merciless clanks who crushed every throne, burned every temple, and ground all defiance into dust.

The wars raged for more than a decade, until no crown, no council, no rebellion remained. In the end, the Dominion appointed a single mouthpiece to the broken survivors named the Speaker. Though it has been years since anyone has glimpsed a clank, their shadow still falls across the world. Entire communities swear allegiance to the Red City, whispering prayers to it like a god. Each night its glow burns above, a red wound in the sky, a reminder to all who dare try and oppose them.

You are not rebels. Not yet at least. You’re mercenaries, survivors, blades for hire. And now, the Whisper Syndicate has called on you.

Your mission is to travel into the ruins of Karash, one of the first cities to fall to the Dominion. It lies dangerously close to the Red City’s looming presence. Find a forgotten manor, hidden in the wreckage, where a vault holds an artifact the Syndicate desperately desires. Retrieve the item and deliver it, and your reward will be more than coin. It will be proof you can survive the Red City’s shadow.

But the task is perilous. Karash is forbidden to enter, its streets swallowed by ruin. Rumors speak of strange things still prowling its streets, creatures that should not have endured. Some say the Dominion left guardians behind. Others claim the city itself resists intruders.
Whatever truth lies in Karash, you’re about to step into it.”

Daggerheart is a collaborative storytelling game that thrives on player creativity. This isn’t a system where the GM holds all the answers; instead, the table creates together. If you’ve ever wanted a TTRPG that rewards imagination, curiosity, and bold choices, Daggerheart gives you the tools to make your creativity part of the adventure.

We will use Discord and Demiplane to plan and create level 1 characters before the game session.

Character Creation

We’ll be using Demiplane for character creation and management. If you’re new to it or need help, I’ll help you through the process, so everything runs smoothly.

Level: All characters start at Level 1.

Content: Void content is allowed on a case-by-case basis. We’ll discuss what you’d like to play and find a way to make it work within the world of the Steel Dominion and the Red City.

Class: Choose your class and subclass to define your role, abilities, and spells.

Heritage: Pick an ancestry and community to establish your appearance and upbringing.

Traits: Distribute −1, 0, 0, +1, +1, +2 across your traits. These traits are agility, strength, finesse, instinct, presence and knowledge.

Hope: Begin play with 2 Hope.

Equipment: Select starting weapons and armor, and record thresholds, inventory, and armor score as directed on your character guide.

Background: Choose or create descriptions and answer background questions to flesh out your character’s history, appearance, and personality. We will do this part during the game session.

Experiences: Based on your backstory, create two Experiences, each with a +2 modifier.

Domains: Choose two Level 1 domain cards from your class’s domains. Cards may overlap with other players.

Connections: Use your Connection questions to tie your character to the party and to the world. Consider how the war, the Dominion’s rule, and the Red City have shaped your life. We will create connections at the start of the game session.

I look forward to playing with you all!
