Union Pacific's famed Big Boy No. 4014, the world's largest operating steam locomotive, will journey to the East Coast this summer for the first time as part of a historic coast-to-coast tour to celebrate America's 250th anniversary.

Once in a lifetime opportunity to see and ride along with the peak of steam powered locomotion.

Route Plan Overview

  • Leave Bergen at 9. Head to Attica
  • We will get our first view of Big Boy underway as he passes through Attica. (est 10AM)
  • Then ride up over Middlebury Rd to Dale Rd and follow him a bit through the valley.
  • Continue on following the rail route to Sliver Springs for the "Whistle Stop" from 11:45 to 12 noon.
  • Ride on to Hornell for "Whistle Stop" from 2:00 to 2:30
  • Next on to Caniseto and County Rt.119 (one of my favorite area rail, river, road) to Addison.
  • Then Elmira, Corning, and Waverly.

Possibly An Overnight?
I (Ivan) may make this an overnight trip with a stay in Waverly. With a cruise home from there. Let me know if you may be interested.
