RTP Full Stack Data Workshop

Welcome to Session 2 of Data Analytics Quarter!

Target audience is again anyone from your 5 year-old cousin to your CEO. Having some knowledge of Python will help in this session as it will be how we start working with our data, but even if you don't, you'll be able to provide valuable input to your small team and even learn a few things yourself.

I've always seen Data Analytics as a funneled processes:
- Business Question >>> Data Question
- Data Question >>> Data Answer
- Data Answer >>> Business Answer

We wrap the business at each end of this with data. We have to know how to translate what a business stakeholder asks for in and relate it to the datasets we are working with, have available to us, or just any data that exists that we can possibly pull.

Business stakeholders ask for "how much money will we make next quarter?"-- we know we have a Revenue, Cost, Personnel Cost datasets. We also know there are clarifying questions to ask.

This session will be more focused on the lab piece, where we will give some hypotheticals and have you work in a small group to generate some questions to ask back to the business stakeholder. Then, having those answers, let's translate that to code and start hunting for the answers in our dummy dataset.

Join us for the finale of the Data Analytics quarter!
This will be an online-only event where we wrap up our data analysis quarter by visualizing some of our results from the last session.

Let's turn our Data Answers from the last session into Business Answers via Tableau Dashboard and/or Excel workbook.

I'm not sure if we will fully finish in the May session, so I may come with some pre-rolled results. If so, I will send them out before the lab so we are all working with the same base dataset.

Our results in Data Analysis are only as beneficial as the business believes them to be. No matter how rigorous our analysis, we have to show them something that makes sense and allows them to adopt the same vision we've gained throughout the analysis we've done.

We will get hands on with Tableau to create a Dashboard in this session and leave knowing that the business can understand the level of analysis we've done, and they have the information they need to move forward.
