From Monolith to Microservices in Ruby: A New Year Miracle

Details
What did you find under the tree this year? Was it that amazing toy you've been dreaming of? Or a half-dozen lumps of coal tangled in a six-pack ring?
The Ruby Microservices Meetup's new year holiday extravaganza and retrospective is a time to drink hot cocoa and regale friends with the tales of great progress on our monolith-to-microservices projects.
In this half white-board session, half end-of-year, half sad and lazy excuse for not expecting to have any new content, Scott Bellware reviews the triumphs and tribulations of moving from a Rails monolith to Eventide services. Featuring the traditional Airing of Grievances, Feats of Strength, and Festivus Miracles.
Scott Bellware works with development teams on monolith restoration and Rails remediation, and autonomous services and microservices projects. He’s been on a five-year mission to incorporate all the good things he’s learned in the distributed systems world with all the good things he’s learned in the Ruby world. Scott is a contributor to the Eventide toolkit for event-sourced autonomous services in Ruby.
